PRESENTATION OVERVIEW

The project expands the idea of living in a community, focusing in particular on the question which traditional residential functions can be relocated to communal areas.

There are currently six existing volumes on the property. Two of the buildings are presently empty and have been incorporated into the proposed design.

In regard to the buildings’ cubature, each individual volume was separately extruded in height, whereby the staggering visible in floorplans transfers also to the vertical arrangement of the new buildings. Focus was placed on the new buildings remaining definable as separate bodies.

HIGHLIGHTS

The colors of the facades blend into the street space, the scale of the material adapts to the underlying buildings, while still speaking their own language. With the choice of wood for the facades, the new buildings stand out from the existing structures and together form one structure.

The project is aimed at a mixed target group who is interested in trying out new forms of living. The common areas are funded by all the residents, whereby some areas can also be used  commercially, compensating for the other common areas.
