In this course, the task was to translate the musical structure of a piece into architectural designs / spatial objects / models.
The musical piece at hand was the composition “Nuits” by the famous composer, architect and former Corbusier coworker Iannis Xenakis, whereby his composing methods constisted mostly of the implementation of mathematical and geometric principles in music.
In our group, we decided to translate the music into a room installation, where people can experience the emotions awakened in audience by “Nuits”, as well as the individual voices blending and crossing.
We presented the designs and models to a large audience in a moderated public exhibition happening.
